They’ve been friends for more than seven decades, but Mavis Trigg and Joyce McDonald are ye to run out of things to say to each other.
The lively pair, who live together at an aged care facility, first met in 1950 when they were introduced to each other by Joyce’s cousin Syril. And they’ve been by each other’s side ever since.
“When I first met Mavis, I thought, ‘This lady is going to be a special person to me.’ We just clicked,” explains Joyce, 88, grasping Mavis’ hand tightly in her own.
“We’ve had some wonderful times together... I look up to her like a sister.”
Mavis, 101, tells Woman’s Day she couldn’t agree more.
