MEASUREMENTS

Scarf Approximately 23.5cm/9/2in wide and 117cm/46in long, excluding fringe.

Hat To fit an average woman's head.

MATERIALS

3 x 100g (280m) balls of Hayfield Bonus DK (100% acrylic) in Bluebell 1969)*. Pair of 7mm (No. 2) knitting needles; medium-sized crochet hook (for fringe). Yarn is available from theknittingnetwork.co.uk.

TENSION

16 stitches and 16 rows, to 10 x 10cm, over pattern, using 7mm needles and yarn held double.

ABBREVIATIONS

St(s), stitch(es); k, knit; p, purl; yon, yarn over (or around) needle to make 1 st; yf, yarn forward (to make 1 st); tog, together (work 2 sts together to decrease 1 st); drop 1, slip next st off left-hand needle and unravel down 5 rows to gain ladder effect; skpo, slip 1 st, k 1 st, pass slipped st over the knitted st (to decrease 1 st).
