Marrakech
This fascinating city is home to mosques, palaces and tropical gardens. Stroll through the alleyways of the medieval Medina, or browse the shops in the souks, selling leather goods and traditional crafts. A visit to the stunning Jardin Majorelle, once the home of fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent, is a must. In the evening, a visit to the main square of Jemaa el-Fnaa – with its acrobats and snake charmers – is like stepping onto the set of an Indiana Jones movie. Do take a warm top though as night-times can get chilly.
WHERE TO STAY
Decorated in traditional Moroccan style, and located in the Medina, Riad Shanima & Spa offers an indoor swimming pool, hot tub and massage treatments. Prices start at £90 a night, riadshanima.fr.
