‘IT WOULD BE NICE TO FIND LOVE AGAIN'

Even over the phone, Linda Nolan's voice crackles with the gravelly timbre of an old-school British star. Living with cancer is far from easy, but her upbeat and positive outlook is an inspiration to millions of fellow sufferers. First diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, the 63-year-old has had periods in remission before the disease returned in 2017, then again in 2020, when it had spread. Now undergoing treatment again, the star lost sister Bernie to breast cancer in 2013 and has also seen sister Anne battle the illness. Here, she tells Woman's Own about her bond with her family and her anxiety about the future.

What's life like at the moment?

Every week, I have a blood test on Wednesday and, if that's fine, I go in and have chemo. While my cancer is treatable, it's not curable. Losing my hair again really upset me. I got lots of compliments and people saying, 'Oh, you've got a lovely-shaped head.' But my lovely-shaped head looks better with hair on it.

How is treatment going?
