MY SON WON’T GET THE COVID JAB

Q My son is 21 and is refusing to have a COVID vaccination. He says he’s perfectly fit and at low risk of serious illness and I’m sure he is right, but I am still scared. A work colleague of mine spent several weeks in intensive care last year. She wasn’t in an at-risk group. How can I persuade him to get vaccinated?

A Please encourage him to take the vaccination. He is at low risk of serious illness, but by being immunised he will be protecting himself and those around him. There is also evidence that the vaccination protects against developing long COVID, which is a hideous disease and has left lots of young people’s lives devastated.
