The Queen has agreed to cough up the exorbitant legal fees – expected to run to millions of dollars – for Andrew to fight allegations that he had sex with an underage girl trafficked to him by his late pal Jeffrey Epstein. Virginia Roberts Giuffre, now 38, issuing Andrew for rape and sexual assault she says happened when she was 17. The Duke of York vehemently denies the claims.
Her Majesty, 95, also provided a haven for her second son when a New York court was trying to serve him with papers regarding the civil suit. Andrew, 61, and his ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York – the only other person sticking by him – fled their Windsor home and went to stay at the Queen’s Scottish residence, Balmoral, as the crisis escalated.
