Celebrating Diana - THE WOMAN BEHIND THE ICON

There may have been a party for close friends and high-profile pals, and no doubt an intimate family get-together with special gifts from her beloved grandchildren.

She might have agreed to a photo shoot, with glamorous shots to mark the start of a new decade, and an exclusive interview with a trusted media contact, outlining her goals for the coming years and reflecting on a life of notable achievements.

She may have even used the occasion to announce a new cause close to her heart that would be gaining her support.

Instead, what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday on July 1 was commemorated with the poignant unveiling of a statue in her memory, commissioned by her sons Princes William and Harry.

The aristocrat’s daughter, who shook up the royal family when she married – and later divorced – the heir to the throne may have been gone for 24 years, but she has not been forgotten, as seen by the many heartfelt tributes that remembered the impact she had in her relatively short life.

Those close to the royal believe that had she lived, Diana would have continued to devote her time to worthy causes, becoming a global humanitarian adept at using her public profile to speak out for those who do not have a voice.
