Battling the monsoon rains, beaten by the winds and drenched in water, we hustled through the chaos of a bustling road in Darbanga to reach our destination, Vatika Mega Mart. A colossal two-storied apparel wear shop with characteristic architecture ornamented with posh glass doors giving a peep into its covetous collection and the mannequins welcoming the shoppers with their unmissable attires. We stood in its steps for a minute or so, just to admire the beauty it spelt on the passers-by.

As we entered the store, it felt like stepping into a different world altogether. Every item whispered royalty, the appealing aesthetics of the store narrated a story of the art and its artist, the collection was worth drooling over and the staff warm and welcoming. Even on a gloomy rainy day, the store was alive with customers picking their favourite dress and pairing them with the right lingerie. The staffs were friendly, smiling and helpful. We simply gazed at the shimmery collections and our eyes got hooked on the little lingerie section sited at the corner with a girl standing by its side, enthusiastically explaining the products to the buyers.

Mr. Rakesh Agarwal, the owner of the store attended us with all glee, telling the story of his store, revealing his future plans and giving us some insights on the consumer appetite of Bihar.

THE GENESIS OF VATIKA MEGA MART

Vatika Mega Mart is the fructification of the stern desire for success in a man’s heart. Rakesh’s father started off with a little Haldiram counter which was going good but not as great as he wanted or deserved. Studying the market analytics precisely and forecasting the rise in fashion trends, his father tapped the waters of textile and garment business. It was lucrative, rising, and an all-season thing! 14th July 2014, the date is inked in Rakesh’s mind as that very day this store came into existence. The 8000 sq ft space soon breathed life with alluring furniture, inviting decor and a collection worth fighting for. Customers, ladies and gents, started buzzing around, struggling to pick one over the other and the counter continued to grow. Going with the concept of being a one-stop destination they also dedicated a few racks to intimate wear collection.

They forayed into the delicate section of intimate wear, slowly and gradually, studying the customer appetite and demand, understanding the desires of the city and analyzing the brands that could fit every need.
