Jenni Falconer: 'How I Got My Best Body At 40'

Much has changed in Jenni Falconer’s life since H&F last interviewed her seven years ago – think marriage, motherhood, and making a name for herself as a DJ for Heart FM – yet, as we watch the presenter work her magic in front of the camera for our latest cover shoot, it seems she hasn’t aged a day. In fact, it’s no overstatement to say she looks healthier, happier and in better shape than ever before. There’s certainly no hint of the mum tum or eye bags you’d expect to see on a busy working mother who has to get up at 2.30am every morning to host a 4-7am radio show every week day before (literally) running home to take her five- year-old daughter Ella to school. Instead, Jenni is all glowing skin, sparkly eyes, rock hard abs and boundless energy. And we want to know her secret!

‘Earlier this year, I realised I was probably the fittest I’d ever been since I was in H&F in 2009, when you guys teamed me up with personal trainer Matt Roberts for a feature on how I could improve my London Marathon PB,’ she explains. ‘But after having Ella in 2011, it became increasingly tricky for me to find the time for long-distance running, and I’ve also been plagued with injuries including problems with my Achilles tendon, and an excruciatingly painful condition called medial tibia stress syndrome which meant I had to rest from running for months at a time. So when I turned 40 in February and realised my body wasn’t in the best shape it could be, I decided it was time to return to Matt to get some professional guidance on how to get my figure and fitness back on track. I haven’t looked back since!’
