It’s easy to be dazzled by the annual wildflower display along the West Coast and Namaqualand, but visitors always need to bear in mind a bigger picture – that this is first and foremost and environmental marvel that needs to be preserved.

Ann Macgregor, a guide who runs tours along the flower route, urges tourists to view the flowers in a responsible manner. She says that the biggest problem experienced during the flower season is vehicles driving through the flower fields and destroying large patches.
