Mr Conway Molusi has been chairman of the Sishen Iron Ore Company – Community Development Trust (SIOC-cdt) for more than a decade.
In that time, he has seen both the Trust, and the needs of the communities it serves, change, and has had to find ways to adapt.
What is the Trust’s core mandate?
The Trust was set up to improve the life outcomes of people living in and around the Kumba Iron Ore mine operations - Sishen Iron Ore Company, and provide community support beyond the life of the mine. But also to make a meaningful contribution to the empowerment of communities, thereby shifting the narrative that black economic empowerment only benefits a few politically connected individuals.
