GREAT TOURS IN THE BIG APPLE

My fiancé and I are planning a Big Apple getaway four months before our wedding. We’ve only been to New York once before, but it was during a business trip. This time we want to explore the city together and discover some hidden treasures. After doing some research (and becoming completely overwhelmed), we decided the best thing we could do is look for some awesome tour guides to show us around. Any suggestions?

New York can be an overwhelming city, so we understand why you’d want to seek out the expertise of a local tour company. In our August 2017 issue, we highlighted an amazing gayowned tour company called Local Expeditions (www.localexpeditions.com), which offers small-group tours. Launched in 2015 by Nancy Blaine, the company allows people from all walks of city life to come up with their own unique tours. This sharing-economy business model benefits the guide directly as well as local businesses, and a portion of the proceeds is donated to charity. So, go on a garden tour with an actual landscape architect or take the “Go to Hell” walking tour of the LGBT neighborhood Hell’s Kitchen.
