BACKGROUND British Airways' short-haul services at Gatwick will move operations to a new British Airways-branded subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, later in the year. This review is of the inaugural flight to Tenerife on March 29.
CHECK-IN I arrived early for my 1355 departure on BA2702. British Airways flights depart from the South Terminal; check-in is in Zones A-C. It was the beginning of the Easter holidays so the airport was fairly busy and there was a five-minute wait to check in my bag. Business class passengers get fast-track security at Gatwick.
THE LOUNGE Situated on the upper level of the terminal where most restaurants are located, the First lounge is to the left as you enter and the main lounge is to the right and has several different areas in which to sit, eat and/or work, and a children's room. There is a mezzanine level and great views onto the surrounding runways and gates.
Covid has changed the food ordering process, which is done through the app, though you can look at the hot and cold food on the buffet and order it directly from the server.
BOARDING We boarded by group number and there was no delay. Passengers were reminded to wear a mask when they stepped on the aircraft.
