A coalition that includes the Wilderness Society, American Rivers, and local groups like Gallatin Valley Backcountry Horsemen and Big Sky Mountain Bike Alliance have put forward the Gallatin Forest Partnership Agreement: a land management plan that would protect wildlife and the land itself while still allowing access for southwest Montana&rsquo;s growing recreation industry. If implemented by the forest service, the plan would add new wilderness and special management areas with a focus on key wildlife habitat and headwater streams, as well as establish guidelines for sustainable local outfitting and recreation.
