Smart Pandemic Home Upgrading
Speed Philippines|September - October 2020
Welcome to the new normal—where work from home is the new standard, where masks and sanitizers are the new in-demand products, and where your home has now become your bomb shelter—or in this case, pandemic shelter, 24/7.

Smart Pandemic Home Upgrading

Because I’ve been spending time at home for days on end for the first time ever, I’ve finally come to the realization that maybe I should give it the love it deserves. When we used to go to the office or school, our homes were merely resting places, for when we need to take a bath, sleep, or wait out tomorrow’s new adventure.

But because of this pandemic, we’re forced to accept our homes for what they are, for what we’ve built them to be—and for me, that’s just literally a space for sleeping, eating, and maybe watching a Netflix series or two. Many people who may be renting small spaces or condo units will agree that we didn’t give our homes that much attention until the pandemic. This is why indoor plants, office tables and chairs, and home improvement items have been all the rage these days. Suddenly, everyone is struggling to make their homes more livable as we wait out the end to this depressing, frustrating virus.

So what have you been adding to your cart for the past few months? Have you been looking into smartening up your home? Ergonomizing your work and play spaces? Brightening it up with a bit of indoor greens? In terms of pandemic home upgrading, let me share with you some techie stuff I’ve bought for my home to make it more livable and comfortable.

STARDEW VALLEY SUPREMACY

Stardew Valley is definitely one of the most successful and most popular indie games to have come out in the last few years. What started out as a fan-made alternative to Harvest Moon (Back to Nature is definitely one of my ultimate favorite games of all time), the game eventually received financial support and a cult following, paving the way for its release in 2016. By 2020, the game has sold over 10 million copies.
