HP’s naming strategy for its business laptops needs some explanation. What, for instance, is the difference between a ProBook and an EliteBook? That’s relatively easy to answer, with the ProBook using a mix of metal and plastic for its chassis whereas the EliteBook is all metal. And you’ll typically find a standard screen in a ProBook, but an EliteBook will include a premium-grade panel.
Then there’s the numbering system. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that a 600 series laptop sits below an 800 series, but the 35 is another clue: if you see a 635 for sale, it’s a more recent model than a 625. And the final digit in any HP model name denotes whether a system is based on AMD technology or Intel; in this case, a 635 denotes AMD, while 630 tells you it’s Intel inside. The G8, as you may have guessed, shows that it’s an eighth generation version of the laptop.
