HIS COLLABORATIONS with Nike and with Jordan Brand have proven that his unique design language is revered by the masses. Whether a kid grew up in the ’90s or is growing up now, everyone has tried to get their hands on a pair of Virgil Abloh’s kicks with the Swoosh and with the Jumpman. His work gets realized as remixes, taking the old and making it new. A deep and dedicated knowledge of the past informs his future.

“Ask me what my inspiration was…it’s like when you ask a fine artist to speak about Warhol,” Abloh says, referring to MJ as Superman. “Walking to the court is just as relevant as a fashion show. I can’t jump from the free-throw line but I can try to advance sneaker culture.”
