Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock both specifically cited speedy Kansas City wide receiver Tyreek Hill as one of the main reasons they drafted Henry Ruggs III with the 12th overall pick in the draft.
It’s a fair comparison, all things considered, but one that Ruggs himself is uncomfortable with.
“I definitely admire Tyreek (but) I don’t really compare myself to anyone,” Ruggs said, shortly after the Raiders upset the Chiefs in Week 5. “I know I have a role in this offense. I came here to do what coach wants me to do.”
What the Raiders want Ruggs to do is exactly what he did against the Chiefs — stretch the field and force defenses to alter their scheme to account for him on every play.
The numbers suggest that plan is working just fine, at least when Ruggs is able to stay on the field.
Slowed by ankle and hamstring issues that forced him to miss two games (both losses), Ruggs has otherwise been everything as advertised. He played in three games (all wins) before the bye week and had six catches for 177 yards and a touchdown.

‘It's fun to learn positive things once in a while'
Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has had his hands full trying to keep the Raiders in the playoff hunt and he’s found plenty of reasons to be optimistic about their chances. Gruden talked to reporters about some of the team’s players who will be key down the stretch, including kicker Daniel Carlson who quietly has put together a very solid season.
TIME FOR PLAYOFF PUSH
What appeared to be a pretty clear path to the playoffs following their last-second loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 quickly turned into a rocky road that had the Raiders on the outside looking in at the postseason.
DESPERATE DEFENSIVE LINE
It is no secret that the key to a good defense starts up front. Playing well in the trenches can make up for a host of troubles on the back end and makes any defensive coordinator’s job much, much easier.

For a guy who went undrafted and who has never really had a lock on a starting job, Nicholas Morrow might very well be the most important player on the Raiders defense this season.

From the first pick to the last, the NFL draft is a complete roll of the dice. There are no sure things, no guarantees of a player’s success regardless of where he gets selected. Every team rolls the dice and hopes for the best.

I see echoes of my great Bath side in Baxter's Chiefs
Exeter Chiefs have strong similarities in key areas with the Bath side under Jack Rowell during my time as a player. Above all, you need a smart coach who has the ability to communicate brilliantly with all his players. On top of that he needs to get his message across through a talented group of assistant coaches and leading players.
