The league sent out a memo to all 32 teams informing them of the plan to start training camps on time. A few teams, notably the San Francisco 49ers, pushed back and may start their camp later but the NFL is clearly intent on playing the season in its entirety.
Not everyone is happy about it, either, but that’s not surprising.
As Major League Baseball and the NBA have discovered, it’s impossible to make everyone feel safe when positive tests for Covid-19 continue to spike across the country. Several big names in baseball have opted out of playing this year, and the NBA is going through its share of bumps and hurdles as it tries to finish its season in a bubble in Orlando, Fla.
Raiders Pro Bowl right tackle Trent Brown is among those questioning the NFL’s decision and its motives.

Gruden feeling the heat?
“I know there is a big bull’s-eye on my chest, certainly. If the people want to use that as an incentive, then so be it. I worked for Al Davis in 1998. That was pressure. I was 34 years old. I’ve dealt with pressure before. I don’t really feel pressure. I love the excitement and thrill of competing, and I can’t worry about things I can’t control in that regard. I know people will want to step on me and beat me, and that is just the way this league is.”
