1 Because we are all different heights and sizes, there really is no specific measure as to how far to stand from the ball. I prefer to base it on where the ball will be if you get your posture correct first, by simply letting your arms hang freely down from your shoulders to the ball. You must also make sure that your shoulder blades are back, rather than hunched forward, as can often be the tendency.
