1 Increasing power
You want to start your downswing with your lower body. The clubhead is the last thing you want to move. It should start from the ground and move into your feet, knees, hips, torso, arms, hands, shaft and then clubhead. You want everything moving from the bottom up so the most amount of speed and force will come from the clubhead at the end.
2 The mind game
You cannot be afraid of something that hasn’t happened – there’s no reason to presume something bad is going to happen. If I do mishit a shot, I tell myself that I’m just reaching my quota for the day so be thankful for it, especially if I do it in practice. It’s gone and it’s left your body. Tell yourself there’s an abundance of good shots in there!
