A Relatively New Course Set In Nova Scotia Has Quickly Risen To One of America’s Finest

Fox Of Nova Scotia

Ron Joyce really wasn’t in the market to buy land along the Northumberland Strait, not far from where he grew up in the rural Nova Scotia community of Tatamagouche.

It was a friend who said he had to look at this 1,100-acre prime property along the northern shore of this Atlantic Canadian province. He did and the rest, as they say, is history.

Joyce, as co-founder of the Tim Horton’s coffee and donut empire and a shareholder in Wendy’s hamburger chain, never really had plans to build a golf course and resort in Nova Scotia. The land purchase, however, opened the door to his imagination.

Today, the property is known as Fox Harb’r Golf Resort & Spa. It is a gated, luxurious five-star destination with both private residences and resort accommodations overlooking the golf course and ocean.

Enjoy a try at Pickleball, tennis, volleyball or some lucky throws at a game of horseshoes, or just go horseback riding around the vast, gnawing property. Sea lovers can go paddling along the shoreline as Fox Harbour Bay is a calm, protected tidal bay. With the right tide, one can kayak within 100 feet of shore without entering deep water and observe birds, seals, and even porpoises.

For a more luxurious experience on the water, explore Nova Scotia’s famously beautiful coastline on a private day cruise for up to 12 guests aboard a 62-foot Ferretti yacht.

When it comes to recreational sport shooting, Fox Harb’r aims for the leading edge with National Sporting Clays accredited courses. Closely replicating field conditions of waterfowl shooting with “clay pigeons”, the diverse courses around the Sporting Lodge are designed to make novice to pro quickly feel “at home on the range.”
