Good afternoon everybody and welcome to Goodison for our Premier League game against Huddersfield Town.
It’s an honour and a privilege to be Everton manager. Goodison is a special place and Everton a unique club, a great club. Obviously, the Club has gone through a difficult spell and hopefully we can put that behind us as quickly as possible so we start looking upwards again.
Two key things stood out for me in convincing me to come to this great Club – the ambition, and I mean both the ambition of the Club and the ambition of the Owner and the Board, and the fact that it’s Everton and all its fantastic history. Peter Reid is one of my best mates, as are Andy Gray and Paul Bracewell whom I worked with at Sunderland. They’ve always told me what a great club Everton was and is. But I know it myself. Everton has always stood out in English football.
