There has been a lot of confusion over Rohit Sharma’s non-selection in the backdrop of IPL 2020. Amid conflicting reports, Rohit eventually found himself on the plane to Australia. But was he not in the plan at all to begin with?

The disruption to the IPL 2020’s business end came not from the Indian Premier League staging itself in the UAE but rather by the furore caused over the selection of the Indian cricket team for the tour of Australia. Rohit Sharma’s hamstring tear situation became perplexing as the Indian selectors left him out of the squad only to include him at a time when it was all but sure that Rohit was going to show up for the Mumbai Indians lifting their fifth trophy. So how much was Virat Kohli a factor that in that decision making?

The non-selection of Rohit Sharma from the original three Indian teams put the selectors in the dock and the supposed cold war between Sharma and the Indian captain back in the spotlight.
