While there may be a gripe about one or two non-selections, the Indian selection panel’s announcement of India’s squad for the final two Tests of India’s tour of England suggest a clear direction to the future, buoyed undoubtedly the decisions that shaped India’s victory in Nottingham.

The Trent Bridge Test proved to be a welcome win for the Indian cricket team that was staring down the barrel after losing the first two Tests of the five Test series in England. Not only was it a comprehensive victory for Virat Kohli’s team but also, it was indicative of the kind of tactics that India would need to employ if they were to entrench themselves as a powerhouse abroad.

India will need to do more to prove the Nottingham win was not a fluke. If anything, it was a case of strategic decisions that paid dividends.
