The IPL 2020 showed that the Super Over can work, unlike in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, if it is applied the right amount of common sense as the rule revisions pre-vailed. The rule change came after the pub-lic backlash following that premier tournament in England and Sunday’s clash between the Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians showed why the rule change was not only long due but also, the absolute right move.

The Kings XI Punjab, in the end, pulled off a stupendous win over the favourites and four-time champions, the Mumbai Indians, after the tied match went to a tied Super Over, resulting in the playing out of another Super Over. In what might have seemed like a long drawn duel of several rounds, the Kings XI Punjab came out on top and so did the Super Over.
