Either the selectors are overplaying their hand or the franchisees are not in a mood to give the opposition any hope. Either way, it has led to a lot of unnecessary speculation when it comes to the Indian cricket team. The last thing the Indian cricket team needs before a big tour like the one of Australia that they will be undertaking by this time next month is an unwarranted controversy. But by being curt and opaque about Rohit Sharma’s non-selection in the squads across all three formats, the Indian selectors have managed to only add fuel to the fire, particularly since the Mumbai Indians have a very different take on the subject.
