The first match between the two sides was a rollercoaster. The inaugural T20 World Cup saw these two sides clash. The Group D match in Durban saw India score 141/9 in 20 overs. Robin Uthappa chipped in with a 39-ball 50. For Pakistan, Mohammad Asif claimed four wickets for 18 runs. Pakistan were reduced to 47/4 at one stage and were 87/5 after 15 overs. However, Misbah-ul-Haq stepped up and took the game close. Pakistan needed one run from two balls, but Sreesanth dismissed Misbah with the final delivery to force a tie. In the bowl-out, India sealed the deal.
