That Was The Two Weeks That Was… Celtic's International Break Was Still A Busy Time

BETWEEN the super September 1 derby day 2-0 win over Rangers at Ibrox and Saturday’s trip to Hamilton Accies, the Celts went basically a full fortnight without kicking a ball in anger.

That Was The Two Weeks That Was… Celtic's International Break Was Still A Busy Time

However, despite practically a full team of Celts off on international duty representing their respective nations, Lennoxtown and Celtic Park were still hubs of activity, and that wasn’t restricted to the remaining players still going through their training routine.

There was still plenty going on from the transfer window finally coming to a close, with some last-minute action going on behind the portals of Paradise, right through to the gradual return of the international Bhoys.

Here we take a look at just some of the things that kept Celtic Park, Lennoxtown and the odd place further afield, ticking over during a fortnight without the Hoops.

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

Taylor Designs

ON the final day of the summer transfer window, Celtic swooped to take their new intake to 11 players with three new signings and the big news was the capture of Greg Taylor.

The 21-year-old took a break from the Scotland training camp to come through to Celtic Park and finalise a four-year deal.

The left-back said: “It’s been a whirlwind of a day, but I’m over the moon to be here and thankfully that’s it over the line. As soon as I knew of Celtic’s interest, I was desperate to come, so it’s been a great day, certainly now that it’s done.”

City Bhoy

ANOTHER four-year deal was tied up when Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Manchester City in a surprise move.

The 18-year-old was spotted while playing against Celtic’s Under-23s and he impressed the Hoops backroom staff.

The right-back said: “I watched Sunday’s match against Rangers. What a game! Celtic were brilliant and deserved to win. Now I can’t wait to play at Celtic Park in front of the fans. Hopefully when I get on the pitch and do something good, I’ll hear the noise for me.”
