THE CALL-UP

Scott Robertson’s hard work in the reserves earned him a place on the Hoops first-team bench for both of last week’s games

THE CALL-UP

AHEAD of his 18th birthday, Scott Robertson joined the Hoops first-team squad on their pre-season summer training camp in Austria.

He’s since spent his time working hard in Tommy McIntyre’s reserve side, but he has remained on Neil Lennon’s radar. This became clear last week when the midfielder featured on the bench against Stade Rennais in the UEFA Europa League, and again during Sunday’s 4-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall.

Despite being unused on both occasions, Robertson is delighted and honoured to be considered at the highest level so early in his career, and is raring to go should the opportunity to make his competitive debut at senior level present itself.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST-TEAM CALL-UP. WHEN DID YOU GET THE NOD?

I was supposed to be playing for the reserves against Brentford a week past Tuesday, but when I was making my way home from training on Monday the evening before, I got a call from Tommy McIntyre. He told me that the plan was for me to be involved with the first-team squad on the Thursday. I then trained with the first team on the Tuesday, and the gaffer told me I was going to be on the bench against Rennes. I was totally buzzing! I had no idea I was going to get the nod at all, it was all a surprise and I think that added to my excitement as well. It came out of nowhere, really. It’s great to know that the first-team staff have picked up on the effort I’ve been putting in in the reserves.
