Connor McBride is enjoying the step-up to the reserves, and is aiming to continue his progress at Celtic
CONNOR McBride graduated from the Under-18 squad to Tommy McIntyre’s reserve team this summer, and the young striker has gained full marks from his new manager so far.
McBride made the move from his hometown club of Falkirk to Celtic in January last year and now finds himself rubbing shoulders with the Scottish champions’ first team at Lennoxtown each day. The environment has inspired the young Hoops striker to do everything possible to follow in the footsteps of Treble Treble winners.
THE BHOYS RECENTLY RECORDED A 4-2 WIN OVER DUNDEE IN THE RESERVE LEAGUE CUP. HOW WAS THE GAME FOR YOU?
I thought the boys played really well. We got the ball down and move it around, even though it was a bit of a sticky surface. I thought everyone in the team played well. We were all delighted to go 2-0 up but we were frustrated to let them back into the game. We showed good character to fight back and get another two goals. We were delighted to get the win, but conceding is always something we try to avoid, so we’ll analyse that as a team to see where we can improve.
WHEN DUNDEE BROUGHT IT BACK TO 2-2, WHAT WAS THE GAME-PLAN TO GET BACK IN FRONT?
We just wanted to get the ball down and play. We know how the manager likes us to play and everyone has the confidence to carry that out, so it was just a case of staying focused and carrying out the game-plan. It feels great to start the Reserve Cup with a win. Three points away from home is always a job well done so everyone’s delighted. When you get a good result like that, it makes you want to play the next game as soon as possible, so we’re looking forward to the next challenge now.
