Victories for Joscelin Lowden (The Independent Pedaler) and Charlie Quarterman (Holdsworth-Zappi RT) at the National 10-Mile Championship in Cambridgeshire on Sunday meant not just two first-time champions, but domination of the event by riders new to drag-strip races.

Quarterman might be reigning under-23 British Cycling TT champion, and have signed with Trek-Segafredo for 2020, but his record in CTT events was only good enough for the Championships reserve list. He slotted into a mid-race spot vacated by a non-starter at the last minute.
