Clancy savouring Olympic underdog status

Low expectations suit veteran track star

Ed Clancy has said he’s relishing the men’s team pursuit quartet’s status as underdogs for the Olympics. In previous cycles, the GB quartet has always been either the out-and-out favorites or among a select group of top-performing teams, but given they were nearly seven seconds off the pace at the last World Championships in February 2020 where they finished fifth, expectations have dropped.
