RINGSIDE REST AND CARE

WE NEED YOU! VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED!

RINGSIDE REST AND CARE are looking for volunteers all over the UK to be collectors at boxing shows.

Ideally, they require people who are an official in some capacity and/or a current/former license holders with the British Boxing Board of Control.

You will be expected to attend boxing shows with a sealed collection box, spreading the word of Ringside Rest and Care and (hopefully) collecting money from fans who are willing to support the cause to deliver a residential home to ex-boxers in need. For the finer details on the whole process and for anyone who wishes to apply, please contact the RR&C Secretary, Karen Knight.

She can be reached on the phone via 07766886580 or on email at kazzie29@hotmail. co.uk.

Finally, apologies to Fred Frewin and Ian Gray, two former boxers from Hastings, who were left off last week’s report of the triumphant O2 rooftop challenge in London. Well, they made it too!

Thanks to everyone who supports the cause.

CALEB PLANT, the IBF super-middleweight champion, knows Britain has a lot to offer the 168lbs division.

Liverpool’s Callum Smith holds the WBA title, Brighton’s popular Chris Eubank Jnr defeated James DeGale earlier this year and Billy Joe Saunders plays a key role too after moving up to win the WBO belt in a second weight class.

“I appreciate the UK fans, they’re a huge part of boxing. They treat their fighters well, they’re huge boxing fans. [The next fight] makes me come to a step closer to filling up an arena over there one day in a unification,” Plant told Boxing News.

Though he adds, “I don’t think that any of these super-middleweights are on my level. I feel like I’m the best super-middleweight in the entire world.”
