Tre’Davious White is a cornerstone of the Bills defense and the fourth-year pro has only gotten better as the year has gone on. Armed with a new four-year, $70 million contract extension, White is stepping up once again as he eyes bigger and better things for the Bills this postseason. With the playoffs just around the corner, here’s a look at what one of Buffalo’s top defenders has had to say in recent weeks.
TRE'DAVIOUS WHITE

1After the win over the Broncos that clinched the AFC East, you immediately reflected on the bond that you share with Sean McDermott and the weight that you’ve carried as his first pick here in Buffalo. How much has that carried you throughout your career? Not to say that you needed any more motivation, but how much extra motivation was that?

A: I wouldn’t necessarily say extra motivation, I just think it’s something that I keep in the back of my mind to continue to work and to continue to try and improve and get better. Because whenever you feel like you’ve got it figured out in this league, that’s when you get it handed to you. Coach McDermott does a great job of preaching that day to day to the whole team. For myself, that is a bit of something that I keep in the back of my mind to continue to push and get better because I just want to make him and Brandon Beane right, the guys who were part of getting me here.

2Sean said that was has impressed him this year with you is that after you signed this big contract extension, you go out and even work harder — which is something that players don’t always do. How much was that in the back of your mind, that your play doesn’t drop off after getting rewarded with that kind of deal?

Dak Prescott, Cowboys 6-2 • 235 pounds • 27 years old A solid starter who has a nice TD-INT ratio over his first five seasons (104-40), Prescott is an accurate thrower and very mobile. However, he’s coming off a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, so it remains to be seen if this will impact his game moving forward.

Hunter Henry, Chargers 6-5 • 250 pounds • 29 years old A very talented player, Henry has had issues staying healthy, unable to complete an NFL season, including missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. But when healthy, he’s a terrific all-around tight end who really connected with Justin Herbert in 2020 with 60 catches. Henry is very good at finding holes in zone coverage.
