The wisdom from the Virat
Yuva Bharati|November 2020
His hands and feet are on every side of us, his heads and eyes and faces are those innumerable visages which we see wherever we turn, his ear is everywhere, he immeasurably fills and surrounds all this world himself, he is the Universal Being in whose embrace we live. Bhagavadgita 13.14
Nivedita Raghunath Bhide

The Ishvara is everywhere. Swami Vivekananda called society as Virat and asked us to worship the Virat. What does it mean? I feel we should serve and be respectful to the society and such abundance knowledge we get from it. Three very brief incidents but that are etched in my memory I would share where I got wisdom from Virat. In all the three incidents, I do not remember the names of the persons concerned, but what they incidentally taught me is not forgotten.

Arun Jyoti camp was in Kharsang, Arunachal Pradesh. Around 40 youth of the district had come for 5 days residential camp. Some village elders used to visit or participate in Bhajan or some sessions. One day a person came and attended a Swadhyay session. After that he was talking with me for some time. While talking he made one remark. ‘I do not understand what is this Dharma, Dharma? Muslim Dharma, Hindu Dharma, Christian Dharma! There are not so many Dharmas at all. Dharma is only one and that is to do good work wherever you are. Aap jahan hai vahan achcha kam karna. This is what I know the meaning of Dharma. From where all these so many Dharmas came?’

What a great truth he told me in such a simple language! As the years passed, I realized how true it is. Dharma is beyond sect, a specific god or dogmas. In whatever situation, place, with whatever people you are, do your best, in the interest of all. The educated would go on discussing, would write big books on this and yet may not be able to tell pinpointedly what is Dharma.

Second incident was when I was working in the villages of Kanyakumari district. With help of some of the office staff like Akhila our tailoring teacher, Amalajyoti and some girls from Charakha unit, I was taking care of some 8 – 10 Samskar Vargas in the villages. This happened at the initial period. One day we reached a village where that day’s Samskar Varga was scheduled. We reached the temple courtyard where we used to conduct Samskar Varga.

Swami Vivekananda – The Fire, The Flame And Sparks

On the auspicious Makarasankaranti Day, 12th of January, 1863, was born Narendranath Datta, a veritable fire-ball of knowledge and renunciation from his childhood, who, later, under the benign influence of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, got metamorphosed into the great Swami Vivekananda – fore most among India’s Patriots, Saints and Philosophers—a true Master, Mentor and Moulder and Maker of India’s destiny. More than eight years have passed, since this flame, which drew people to him like a magnet, extinguished itself. Yet, the sparks therefore continue to set aflame the hearts of thousands with fiery ideals of renunciation, dedication and love for Motherland, spreading blazing trails of idealism.
