What Women in Ministry Can learn from Marowe sanchez

If you’ve heard Catholic lay preacher and financial mentor Bo Sanchez talk on stage, if you’ve followed him on social media and read his books, you would have noticed how much he honors and loves his wife. He would share about their weekly dates, their vacations, and even simple memories that bless his many readers, followers, and fans. He also refers to her and their children as his foremost ministry.

American comedian Groucho Marx was right when he quipped, “Behind every successful man is a woman.” Bo’s many victories in ministry and business can also be attributed to the support his wife gives him. So, as we celebrate Women’s Month this March, Feast Magazine honors women of faith, service, and love—and especially our founder’s better half, Marowe Sanchez.

From Background to Stage

Marowe was never in the spotlight even after she married the most eligible bachelor of Light of Jesus in 1998. Although Bo was the founder of the community, she was not the typical preacher’s wife who would be seen speaking onstage, leading worship, or heading a particular ministry. According to her, it’s because she really chose to be in the background. It’s also because that was a mutual agreement between her and Bo.

“Tinatanong ko siya noon, bakit hindi siya pumili ng someone who also preaches . . . hindi raw niya gusto ’yun (I was asking him before, why he didn’t choose someone who also preaches . . . he said he doesn’t prefer that),” Marowe said. “So it’s clear that I will not really share the stage with him . . . background support ako for Bo.”
