He was the founder of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India.

MNIT*, one of the reputed institutions of technology in Jaipur, India has been named after him.
He was the one to take initiative and was also successful in introducing Hindi in official work, courts of United Provinces and schools.
He started the publication of 'The Leader' and 'Abhyudaya' papers.
The construction of Bharati Bhawan Library is also credited to him.
Although the list is huge and expansive, yet the hints are perhaps sufficient to identify the well-respected and distinguished personality, who was an eminent educationist and politician, and played a notable role in the Indian independence movement– Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
His impressive persona and oration left the listeners mesmerised whenever they heard his talks and speeches. Once, Dadabhai Naoroji (also known as the Grand Old Man of India) happened to attend one of the conventions in Kolkata in the year 1886, where Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya delivered a speech. Unable to contain his words, Dadabhai Naoroji spontaneously remarked, “Indeed, Bharatmata (India) was talking through Malaviya ji's words.” Not just that; to add to his versatile set of attributes and qualities, Madan Mohan Malaviya was also adept in music.
