10 RAYMAN – RAYMAN

It’s all well and good spending hours on your hair before leaving the house, but there’s just no way it’s ever going to be as good as Rayman’s. At first you might think he doesn’t take much time over his ‘do, but consider this. Ray’s hair doesn’t just look funky, it helps him fly. Yep, winding up a couple of fronds of head-hair, he is able to helicopter his way through vertical levels of Ubisoft’s cheerful platformer series. Can Leon S Kennedy do that with his curtains? No. Can Handsome Jack from Borderlands travel by quiff? No, he cannot. Our mums were always on at us to get a ‘practical’ haircut, and nothing could be more practical than helicopter bangs. Suggested barber’s shop name: British Hairways.

09 CLOUD STRIFE – FINAL FANTASY VII

One of the long-established JRPG’s most beloved entries has recently, finally, come to Xbox One, and so that means we can now all enjoy Final Fantasy VII protagonist Cloud Strife’s heroic hair arrangement. When we say ‘enjoy’, we do of course mean laugh our asses off because it is completely stupid. For FF’s sake, it looks like a galaxy of a blond starfish have attached themselves to his head. The Final Fantasy series actually contains all of the best and worst coiffures ever to have been put into videogames, from Lightning’s perfectly styled pale pink hairdo to the hairdressing snafu that is Seymour Guado’s blue hair-antler thing. Suggested barber’s shop name: Dye Hard.
