The exploits of Takayuki Yagami’s detective agency might be ‘only’ a Yakuza spin-off, but its Kamurocho and beyond is something of a shared universe, the void in the criminal underworld left at the end of Yakuza: Like A Dragon leaving it open for even more unsavoury types that Tak and friends have to deal with.

You get into real-time button-mashing fisticuffs with plenty of such thugs (particularly members of the RK gang, where many washed-up yakuza have landed), but it’s actually young teenagers who are the heart of the conflict in Lost Judgment. Called to Yokohama (the map from Like A Dragon largely returns, with some small areas gated off), Tak and former-yakuza-with-a-heart-of-gold Kaito arrive to help their buddies out with their new, neighbouring detective business. Their big case? To investigate alleged bullying at private school Seiryo High, on behalf of its chairman.
