INDIAN sportswomen had a fantastic run in various disciplines at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The year 2017 too, holds immense promise and not just from the likes of Sania Mirza, Saina Nehwal, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar. These women have already proven their mettle beyond an iota of doubt. we are especially excited about the many upcoming stars who are waiting in the wings to break into the big league. As the year ticks along, it would be rewarding for sports lovers in this country to follow the progress of at least half a dozen girls with the potential to bring laurels to India. Not the least among them is Laishram Sarita Devi, India’s first woman pugilist to turn professional.
