THE PRO

NAME: James Paterson

CAMERA: Nikon D850

Regular readers will recognize James as N-Photo’s resident editing expert and all-around photography genius, but he’s also the editor of Practical Photoshop magazine and still finds the time to fulfil commissions for a variety of exciting brands. While his photography knowledge knows no bounds, he’s perhaps most at home in the studio where, today, he’s going to lift the lid on a few light sculpting tricks that will encourage our apprentice’s creativity to blossom. See more of James’s work on pages 54-60 and via: www.patersonphotos.com

THE APPRENTICE

NAME: Nigel Wood

CAMERA: Nikon Z 6II

Worcestershire-based Nigel is a project manager with a burgeoning interest in portraiture. Aviation photography is his first love, but this largely seasonal genre left him wanting during the quieter months. He joined Instagram photo group @gl.shooters so he could keep busy all year round and following his first portrait session was hooked! With plenty of outdoor portrait shoots under his belt, Nigel is looking to boost his confidence in the studio. He’s come to the right place!
