Matt Porteous

Matt built Wedding M in collaboration with a great and highly experienced team of photographers and filmmakers to give the scope and depth required to capture diverse, distinctive, and enduring visual memories. Their success is defined by their partnership, which is based on mutual appreciation, respect, and strong values. Matt is drawn to stories, and he is an excellent storyteller. He is alert to the emotion contained in each moment and possesses a unique capacity to capture it, driven by a passion to preserve events ranging from the intimate to the adventurous. Matt is devoted to giving light to tales with a ‘why,’ a purpose that extends beyond the person, and has an ever-growing enthusiasm and concern for the water and our environment. His ongoing success may be seen in the transformative force and calm honesty of his photographs. In an engaging interview with Asian Photography, Matt revealed his devotion to the joy of wedding memories. Excerpts:

How did you get into wedding photography specifically?

It’s probably the same story as a lot of wedding photographers, I’d been shooting personal work for a long time, my day-to-day life, travel, surfing, friends and strangers. A few friends saw my work and asked if I could photograph their wedding, from there it just spiralled, when you get 100 people at a wedding, word of mouth goes a long way.

What do you love most about photographing weddings? Why do you photograph weddings in particular?

I love to document positive stories. In both my personal portfolio and in weddings, surrounding myself with cheerful people is very important to my work. Weddings are one of the most exciting days in a couples’ life and their friends feed off this, creating an atmosphere that inspires my work, what’s not to love about a joyful day!

Instagram Tips For Photographers In 2021

In today’s mobile-driven world, even a small image can make a significant difference. “I don’t have time for another social network, and I don’t need Instagram,” other photographers frequently tell me. Despite this, they spend hours publishing on Facebook, 500px, and Flickr, where their work is seen by nearly no potential clients. Other photographers are essentially giving them followers, likes, and comments. Instagram can be valuable in ways you hadn’t considered before, and it shouldn’t take you long to establish a presence there.

Best Mirrorless Cameras Of 2021

Mirrorless cameras, often known as small system cameras, are no longer the daring upstarts they once were. The DSLR is no longer the king among cameras. Obviously, the greatest mirrorless camera to buy is determined by your skill level and preferred subject matter. Overall, you’ll want something tiny and portable, with an EVF, fast and precise focussing, and excellent image quality. Isn’t it too wonderful to be true? These aren’t the dates.

SIGNS IT'S TIME TO RAISE YOUR PRICE IN 2022

There’s no reason to raise your fees if your company provides these services! And when I say “raise your prices”, I’m not talking about a small increase each year to account for inflation. Is it true that I’m increasing my rates for the appropriate reasons? This is a crucial issue to emphasise. There are various incorrect reasons for boosting your photography rates: * you want to make more money; *you are attempting to replicate the prices of other photographers; *you haven’t raised your prices for a long time; *your style or specialty has changed. This is not a valid cause to increase your charges, as you should be confident in yourself and your company. Here are six points that will assist you in increasing your photography prices for good reasons:

ICONIC IMAGES THAT IMPACTED 2021

Every year in January, Asian Photography selects hundreds of images from photographers from every media possible. The greatest ones that make the final cut for the top might be magnificent in composition, disturbing to experience, news-making stories, or a combination of all three. We pause to honour these photos and their owners because we know there is so much more to photography than pressing the button on the camera. Photographers in these circumstances are intensely immersed in the people and surroundings depicted in their work, forming bonds that extend well beyond the single frame. These photos reflect the tale of a year filled with hardship and strength, a year in which photography provided views of a world that felt out of reach at times. The photographs, and the individuals who created them, demonstrate the power of great photography to inspire us, unite us, and remind us of our common humanity and how we had a crazy year.

In recent times Tamron has made the all-in-one ultrawide telephoto zoom lens market a world of their own honestly. They have some great lenses for the Canon and Nikon mount in similar focal ranges which we have reviewed as well and we’ve enjoyed using them. And looks like someone has been listening at Tamron and we now have the lenses for the Sony and Fujifilm cameras as well. Today we are reviewing the Sony E-mount lens and soon we will be reviewing the Fuji mount as well, so do stay tuned for that.
