The Best Mirrorless Cameras For 2023

Best Enthusiast Mirrorless Camera

1. Sony A7 IV

The Sony A7 IV is a cutting-edge hybrid camera. It's overkill for novices and costlier than its stills-only rivals, but it's also a flexible workhorse for anybody who wants to capture both photographs and video. It no longer competes in the same price range as its successful predecessor, but advancements like 10-bit video and a Bionz XR CPU make it a far more powerful alternative.

The A7 IV has class-leading focussing capabilities, as well as a seemingly infinite buffer depth, which means the camera can nearly endlessly sustain its top burst speeds without slowing down. It ate 9fps for nearly a minute while using a CFexpress card (or 6-7fps when continuously shooting raw). The A7 IV's new 33MP full-frame sensor doesn't significantly increase image quality over the A7 III (the higher resolution also implies more noise above ISO 6400), and 4K footage is heavily cropped. However, as a whole, the Sony A7 IV is a terrific all-rounder that may be the last mirrorless camera you'll ever need.

2. Fujifilm X-T4

Looking for a mirrorless camera that can capture both stills and 4K video? Few cameras do it better than the Fujifilm X-T4, which is both smaller and less expensive than full-frame competitors. Our testing revealed that it is the greatest APS-C camera to date, offering a compelling mix of superb build quality, class-leading picture quality, and a pleasant shooting experience.
