It can be difficult to stay safe in the pandemic, even buying your groceries and making a living has become tough and risky. And if you’re a wedding or an event photographer, staying safe becomes an even more challenging task. As a wedding photographer, you might be exposed to people from different locations and places.
So how should a wedding photographer stay safe on the field? Here’s our list of practical steps you can follow to ensure the safety of your team and you during weddings shoots this pandemic.
It’s okay to Say No
This is a simple and practical advice that you can get as a photographer during this pandemic. Your safety is the most important and it should be your first priority all the time. If your client tells you to do something that is unsafe or just feels unsafe, always remember to say no.
Talk to your Clients in Advance
If you had undertaken the wedding assignment prior to the pandemic, let your clients know if you are still ready to capture their wedding. Inform them in advance that you will be maintaining social distancing measures and wearing a mask. A conversation regarding safety with your client before the wedding is one of the best activities to keep everyone safe. Do inform the clients to provide hand sanitizer on tables in the wedding and smaller bottles in the washrooms. Suggest them to provide disposable masks for guests to wear in case some of them forget to carry their own masks.
Always make sure there is at least 4-5 feet distance between you and every guest at the wedding. This is definitely not easy to apply, but it is a piece of crucial advice for photographers. Also, stay distant from other vendors present during the wedding and your team members as much as possible too.
Wear a good quality mask and comfortable gloves
If you have a good quality mask, wear it all the time when you are shooting. If you don’t have a mask like that, wear a cloth mask. If you wear a mask and gloves, people are bound to wear a mask when they are around you or stay far away from you. People respecting your limits will keep you safer, and wearing mask and gloves is a good way to let them know you’re taking this Covid-19 seriously even if they are not.
Carry a Second Mask or Even a Third Mask
