Games promote stimulated learning and often become the avenue for children to explore higher-order thinking skills by creating, evaluating, analysing and applying knowledge.

Gamification of learning and its importance

Gamification of learning can be defined as the incentivisation of the learning process using various gaming components. For instance, increasing the difficulty level of the next task/question after a learner successfully completes one, setting a time limit to a task such as reading and understanding a paragraph or solving five math problems in 10 minutes. Apart from this, motivational factors such as score points, competition, collaboration and immediate feedback and reward in the form of badges and stars are integrated into the regular teaching– learning process to maximise learner engagement and enjoyment.
