Love, love me do!

Being parents need not slow down your love life. We show you how to rekindle the spark and bring back the magic, by creating your very own love nest!
Riddhi Rathod

Becoming a parent is one of the best joys there is. Bringing up your own little munchkin together as a couple is even more enriching experience. And yet, it comes with its own challenges, especially during a global pandemic. Often, you find yourself so overwhelmed with the caregiving, that you forget what brought them into this world in the first place—the love between you and your significant other! This Valentine’s Day, we’re helping you fall in love all over again. In a normal world, a romantic dinner at your favourite restaurant or cosying up with a movie and popcorn would be the way to go, but in the new world, we’ve all learned to make the most of the space between the four walls of our home. Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate love, for V-Day and beyond, by decorating your space and transporting yourself to a minihoneymoon.

LIGHTING

Why is lighting important? Does mood lighting really change our mood? You must have experienced feeling upbeat and energetic when the weather is bright and sunny. However, during rainy and dull winter days, you may not even feel like getting out of bed! This is a classic example of the psychological effects of light on our bodies. Find a spot in your house, not necessarily the bedroom, where you can have have lights that are dim and indirectly placed, to produce a quiet mood. Turn up the romance with low levels of lights, tinted on the warm side so that light flatters as it modulates face and form, like the feeling you’d get when you enter a candle-lit environment.

SOFT FURNISHING AND TEXTURES

Put your DIY skills to the test with a makeover project. Switch up the room’s look through colours and contrasts of soft furnishings. Upgrading your furnishing alone can give your space a total facelift, without having to splurge big bucks. Make sure that the fabrics used are soft and touchable. They should also have some drape or flow in them, to create a romantic ambience in the room. Curtains, rugs, bed linen, throws, table runner, cushions, etc. work their magic in transforming your haven!
