Pregnancy is such a special time, and everyone around you also goes all out to make sure you feel pampered and cared for. One of the areas that expecting mums are especially pampered is with food. And what better time to talk about all the delicacies than during the festive season. With Christmas and New Year’s around the corner, I am sure your taste buds are tingling. Even though your social calendar may be empty, thanks to the ongoing pandemic, there is still the feeling that this is the time to do something special, something different.

Well-meaning elders around you are probably saying ‘Eat for two’. Well, you do have another person inside you now. So does that mean two servings of desserts? Although that sounds amazing, it is something that you should give a second thought to. After all, the second person that you are eating for is a teeny tiny baby which is 1/20th your size, even at full term.

Another thing you are probably told to assuage your guilt for sinful eating, is that now you actually have two hearts and you should not deprive yourself or your cravings because you would be depriving that little heart inside of you. And of course, who can think about depriving a baby right? Well, it might do you good to remember that for the well being of your developing baby, it is most important that you eat healthy, as all the organs are developing and this is actually the foundation period for your baby’s whole life.
