New Delhi: Banks are dreading the elections in Punjab and their fears found an expression through Patiala Central Cooperative Bank Ltd which told the Supreme Court on Monday that no farmer is returning the loan taken from banks as they are hoping for a waiver by the government that will come to power after the polls.

1980 के दशक में पंजाब में शुरू हुआ आंतकवाद का दौर, ऑपरेशन ब्लू स्टार, पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री इंदिरा गांधी की हत्या और उसके बाद हुए खून खराबे ने देश को वो जख्म दिया जो आजतक नहीं भर सका है. बहुत लम्बे समय तक प्रयास के बाद पंजाब आंतकवाद के चंगुल से बाहर निकला, ऐसे में इस तरह की घटनायें परेशान करने वाली हैं. ऐसा नहीं है कि इससे पहले पंजाब में आतंकवादी घटनाएं नहीं घटी. नवंबर 2018 में अमृतसर के निरंकारी भवन में ब्लास्ट, जनवरी 2017 में सिरसा के मोड़ मंडी में ब्लास्ट, जनवरी 2016 में पठानकोट एयर बेस पर हमला और 2015 में गुरुदासपुर में पुलिस स्टेशन पर भी हमला हुआ, पर पिछले एक साल में जितनी तेजी से ये घटाएं बढ़ी हैं वो ये बताती हैं कि खतरा हमारी समझ से कही बड़ा है.
