IMD officials on Friday said that high day temperatures over the past few days have left no room for heat to escape, causing night temperatures in the city to spike. Besides, the sea breeze is weak and the city is in the grip of hot northerly winds, which have added to the discomfort.
Some respite can be expected by the weekend, though, as day temperatures could dip a little. According to the 24-hour forecast for Saturday, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 degrees and 27 degrees, respectively.
